At Insider Louisville, we dig deeper, ask more questions, and seek experts to add analysis and context to the issues that our readers – Louisville’s stakeholders – care about the most. Our mission is to inform these readers with impactful, public-service journalism so that they can help shape outcomes. Our goal is to raise the level of civic engagement in our communities and to be an indispensable source of information about local business, public policy, education, health, and culture.
Here’s what sets us apart from competitors in a diminished Louisville media landscape:
We are a pending 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Insider does not have a paywall – indeed, just the opposite – we provide daily newsletters, social media posts, educational events, and our award-winning website at no cost to readers. What’s more, we promise not to annoy Insiders with click-bait headlines or pop-up advertisements like some of our competitors do.
We focus on analytical local news coverage and enterprise reporting. Insider focuses on mission-driven cornerstone topics like business, education, government, health, culture and the local economy. We put local news front and center in a digital-first format and do the kind of old-school, shoe-leather reporting that is fast disappearing in a world driven by news gleaned from social media. Our reporters work the phones and hit the streets to uncover the issues that are begging for transparency. We ask the hard questions and hold officials accountable.
We are small but mighty. Insider has a team of five dedicated reporters and editors plus a robust group of quality contributors. We are proud to say that we have won a variety of local journalism awards and that our work has been cited by national media.
We rely on support from you, our readers. In addition to local foundations and corporate sponsors, we rely on individual donors to support our impactful mission. We take pride in our work and are grateful to have such a dialed-in group of readers. We love this town and want to see it thrive the way they do. We plan to broaden our coverage, add staff and extend our platform.
It takes a community pitching in to energize and support Insider’s nonprofit digital platform. If you, our valued reader, love Insider (we know you do) and value our expertise and enterprise reporting, consider becoming a member. In return, you will become better informed and engaged on issues that affect us all, and together, we can help Louisville thrive.
